Raft for Fire Island
9 feet x 5 feet x 2 feet. Salvaged wood, hardware and dock components.
This free-floating boardwalk served as a platform for all the residents to share work together over the water. Made to reference the boardwalks of Fire Island, this raft was built over the course of our month-long residency on Fire Island and was constructed entirely from scraps of found lumber and parts from a wrecked dock washed ashore on the stretch of beach known as the "meatrack" that exists between communities of Cherry Grove and the Pines.
Collaborative performance on the raft, August 08, 2019, Fire Island NY Featuring performances from Amelia Bande, Tyler Matthew Oyer, Bianca Rae Messinger
